Handysize bulk carrier loaded Iron Ore Fines at New Mangalore Port during monsoon for Chinese Disport. After dropping outward Pilot New Mangalore, Vessel developed severe 180 list and was beached. Hence, Owners arranged for salvage assistance by signing LOF. General Average declared. As we were conversant with navigation, coastal topography, etc, appointed as ‘Special Casualty Representative’ for salvaging and post-salvage operations. The casualty was attributed to liquefaction of cargo. Hence, consultancy was in this perspective. The Vessel was beached hard. Hatches opened; water pumped out and list corrected by shifting cargo. Interacted with statutory authorities; Vessel successfully re-floated. No Pollution or Bottom Damage whatsoever. Sailing permissions organised; voyage completed satisfactorily.
